De band werd in het najaar van 2022 opgericht rond de broers Jan en Luc Van Dessel (resp. drummer en gitarist), 2 iconen uit de Kempische rockscene die in de jaren ’70 furore maakten met hun blues-rock band “Tails Blues” (voorloper van de prog-rock band "Tails Blue" die actief was in de jaren ’80).
Eind 2023 werd helaas bij Jan een ernstige trombose vastgesteld waardoor hij zijn activiteit als drummer definitief moest stopzetten. Een waardige opvolger werd gelukkig gevonden in topdrummer Geert Mariën.
De bandleden zijn stuk voor stuk gerenommeerde muzikanten met een rijk muzikaal verleden in diverse bands en projecten. Alzo deelden ze reeds de affiche met bands als o.a.: “Thin Lizzy, Slade, Focus, Kayak, Magnum, Doro, Lee Aaron, od Saxon, Nazareth, Vandenberg's Moonkings, The Dead Daisies, enz. …”.
Als “The Old Farts” staan ze garant voor een energieke classic hardrock show op hoog niveau, waarin tijdloze rock classics van bands zoals: "Led Zeppelin, The Who, Deep Purple, enz." centraal staan.
BIO English
The band was formed in the fall of 2022, by the brothers Jan (drums) and Luc (guitar) Van Dessel, both notorious rock icons of the Kempen region (Antwerp) who made furore in the local rock scene in the seventies with their band Tails Blues (which shifted to prog-rock in the eighties as Tails Blue).
At the end of 2023, Jan was diagnosed with a severe thrombosis, which forced him to quit drumming permanently. However the band has found a worthy replacement in first class drummer Geert Mariën.
The band members are all renowned musicians with a rich musical past in various bands and projects. They also shared the bill with bands such as: "Thin Lizzy, Slade, Focus, Kayak, Magnum, Doro, Lee Aaron, od Saxon, Vandenberg's Moonkings, Nazareth, The Dead Daisies, etc...
As “The Old Farts” they guarantee an energetic classic hard rock show at a high level, in which the timeless rock songs of bands such as: "Led Zeppelin, The Who, Deep Purple, etc. are central.
